A 24-year-old Winfield man is facing a number of charges – including aggravated TOSHIBA Laptop AC Adapter battery, criminal threat, and stalking – in connection with an ongoing investigation that began last month.

Court records show that charges against McCarville stem from a series of incidents that are said to have occurred between Sept. 22 and Oct. 3 of this year. McCarville is facing a total of eight charges, four of which are felonies.

The aggravated Panasonic Lumix Dmc-fz20k Battery charge is said to have occurred Sept. 22 when McCarville made physical contact, in a rude, insulting or angry manner, with the alleged victim in the case.

McCarville also is accused of threatening a second woman with violence on Sept. 29.

In addition to the felony counts, McCarville is facing misdemeanor charges for violating a protective order, criminal restraint, harassment using a telecommunications device and intimidation of a witness.

Tracking a PC’s or Laptop’s power consumption can be helpful in several ways. It can for instance be used to analyse power usage to reduce the energy bill or find ways to increase a laptop’s battery life by reducing the overall power usage.
Microsoft Joulemeter is an experimental program for Windows that can track the PC power consumption. It is compatible with desktop and mobile computers.
The application places an icon in the Windows system tray on startup. A click on that icon displays the main interface where the power consumption and statistics are displayed and constantly updated.

The power consumption is divided into base, cpu, disk and monitor which are added to get a total power consumption. The application currently is not measuring the gpu’s power consumption which – on modern computer systems – uses lots of power.
It also has to be noted that the values are estimations if the application is installed on a desktop computer. The connection of a WattsUp power meter and the calibration module of Joulmeter is said to return accurate statistics.
Laptop users do not need a WattsUp meter. They simply have to pull the plug if the laptop is at least 75% charged to get more accurate power date.
Microsoft Joulmeter is an interesting program for Windows that can track a computer’s power consumption. The software can be downloaded from Microsoft Research.

Fig. 2 has an external 1 mO current sense resistor.The bq77910 implements an internal cell-balance control circuit and power FET structure. A fully integrated cell-balancing capability with internal balancing FETs is shown within dashed lines in Fig. 2. The Q10 is a budget camcorder which is designed to be held in either hand - unlike most designs, which are impossible to use left-handed. If you turn the camcorder upside down and place the strap around your left hand, the Q10 flips the image to compensate. It's just as comfortable to hold this way round and the circular zoom thumb control works fine either way up. The touchscreen menus are a mixed bag. Simple options are clearly presented, but as you get into the settings menus, navigation becomes more difficult. There's not an awful lot in the video settings section, and we imagine the vast majority of users will stick with the default 1080i setting. You can't adjust the quality - the bitrate is a reasonable 17.2mbit/s, which equates to 125 minutes of playback from a 16GB SDHC card. The Q10 has a respectable sounding 1/4in CMOS sensor, but Samsung lists its effective size at just 1/5.8in, which is significantly smaller. Such sensors have started appearing on mobile phones - Sony's EXMOR R sensor, as found on some Xperia models, is back-illuminated.(Canon LP-E8 battery) However, such sensors tend to have small surface areas, so haven't become common on camcorders as yet.

Image quality is pretty good for a £200 device, with a reasonable amount of detail to images. Despite this, when compared directly to the £300 Canon RF 206's video, the Q10's footage lacks contrast and definition, which can make images appear flat and less lifelike. Colours also looked a little washed out, lacking some of the richness we’ve seen on more expensive models. It turned in better than expected footage in low-light conditions, probably thanks to that back-illuminated sensor, and while there's some obvious noise reduction at work the final effect is still highly watchable.(Nikon EN-EL1 Battery)

Samsung advertises the Q10 as having optical image stabilisation, which is surprising at this price. It turned out to be too good to be true in our image stabilisation test - the Q10's system wasn't much better than digital-only systems at cutting out the shakes. Still handheld footage is fairly steady, but the image can lag behind your movements. (Canon EOS 5D battery )

The Q10 shoots some decent, if not outstanding, video for the money; it's particularly good at turning out less-than-hideous footage in low lighting. That may sound like faint praise, but at only £200 it's pretty impressive. Its ambidextrous design also makes it a handy camcorder. It's more expensive than a Flip-style device, but it does have a 10x zoom and superior video quality.

Computers that can play films from Blu-ray disc are getting cheaper and cheaper.

We've seen better screens on laptops but this one, while a little low in resolution, was perfectly useable. The higher the resolution, the sharper the pictures and text on screen, so the slightly low resolution here of 1366x768 pixels meant everything was the tiniest bit blocky when we looked closely, but largely it was fine. Certainly, high-definition video looked fine on it.

It lacks the design flair of its business-minded more expensive brother the Tecra R840 but it shares one nice touch with that laptop, a physical button mounted between the keyboard and the touchpad that allows the touchpad to be disabled. If you are using a plug-in mouse, this prevents the pointer moving around if your fingers accidentally brush the touchpad while you're typing.(Canon hf10 Battery)

The keyboard was too shallow for our liking – the keys didn't travel far enough when pressed but they were large and nicely spaced, and there's enough room in the laptop's 38cm width for a full number keypad to the right of the keyboard. As on many laptops, the space bar was a little small, but it was useable.

It comes with two small speakers that sit above the keyboard, which looked good but produced only so-so sound. Quality was fine, but volume didn't go particularly high and it was lacking in bass, despite coming with the ‘Toshiba Bass Enhanced Sound System'.(TOSHIBA Laptop AC Adapter)

Plenty of computing power is available. The processor is an Intel Core i5-2410M model and it has 6GB of memory. Internet and office tasks posed no problems, and it completed our DVD copying test in a quick-for-a-laptop 33 minutes. It has an Nvidia Geforce GT 525M graphics card with 1GB of its own memory, which helped it to reasonable performance for games. The 64-bit edition of the Windows 7 operating system is installed along with a few Toshiba programs, some of which were more useful than others. Toshiba Reeltime is a pointless file manager, while the hardware setup tool was much more helpful. It does include some useful Nero software for using discs and backing up, and Office 2010 Starter which contains cut-down spreadsheet and word processor programs.

It's 3D compatible, but only to a point – if you have 3D Blu-ray discs you can watch them using the L755, but not on its own screen. You have to plug in an HDMI cable to a 3D TV or projector. It doesn't include 3D glasses either.(Sony Np-fp50 Battery)

Network support is good, as it will connect to the fastest version of both wired and wireless networks and Bluetooth devices. It also has headphone and microphone sockets, a VGA socket for monitor connection. There are two USB sockets on one side, a single fast USB 3 socket on the other and an SD memory card reader under the front handrest.

Battery life was fair at around four hours in light use, though this will decrease when, say, watching a Blu-ray disc. In all, this is a good laptop for both working and home and entertainment, but it's a shame the 3D didn't live up to its billing.

Learning how to use a simple feature last week in Apple’s new Lion operating system became almost a Zen-like moment of enlightenment for an old dyed-in-the wool PC guy like me.(canon lp-e5 battery)

A flaw in Apple firmware that could let a hacker render a laptop battery inoperable is unlikely to allow an attacker to use the hole to start a fire, according to security expert Charlie Miller.

Miller is due to give a talk on the flaw on August 4 at Black Hat. Some news articles have speculated that the flaw could allow a hacker to set fire to a laptop dell inspiron 1545 battery remotely. Miller told ZDNet UK on Monday that this was unlikely:

Q. What is the flaw you found in Apple firmware, and how can it be used? What devices does the flaw affect?

As I type this, a UPS beeps furiously behind me, over the growl of half-a-dozen diesel generators on the street outside. Power generation is a deeply unsexy but profoundly important subject in the developing world. Technology is busily transforming lives all around the globe even as you read this—but a dearth of reliable electricity is a massive obstacle even in major cities, much less faraway villages.
People do find various imperfect and ingenious ways to cope. Note -- Lenovo has another ultra-thin and light notebook, the ThinkPad X1, which is considerably thinner than the X220 at just 1.69cm. Size and Weight

The X220 is a 12.5" notebook, so a tad smaller in screen-size than the 13.3" that has become the norm for ultra-thin and light travel laptops. But it doesn't trade screen resolution, so you'll still see the same amount on an X220 screen as a Toshiba Portege R700 or a Samsung Notebook Series 9.
Its weight is from 1.45KG, putting it squarely in race alongside the lightest laptops on the market. Of course, since the configuration can be customised at the time of order, the weight will vary a little depending on what parts you choose.
The main disappointment in the X220 is its thickness (and the absence of this information on just about all of Lenovo's website information and marketing materials shows that the company is aware of its weakness on this front). The laptop is 1.9cm at its thinnest point, rising up to a chunky 3.46cm at its thickest.

What you get

There are three models to choose from, before you start customising options. All of them use the latest generation "Sandy Bridge" Intel Core processing chips, which are really fast.
Impressively, Lenovo is not using the "ultra-low voltage" versions which dial down their speed in exchange for longer MINOLTA NP-400 Charger battery life; it is instead using the full power versions typically found in larger 14" and 15" laptops.

The entry-level model has an Intel Core i5 processing chip, running at 2.3GHz -- which is pretty snappy without being top of the range, 2GB memory and a 320GB traditional mechanical hard drive for storage. The 320GB storage is plenty for most people, but the fact that it's a mechanical hard drive and not one of the newer solid state drives that use high speed flash memory will be a bottleneck in the system performance. However, this basic model has no webcam, which means making Skype video calls won't be possible without using an external webcam (and that rather goes against the concept of an ultraportable laptop).

The $1,959 mid-range model

This model has a slightly faster processor chip than the basic one -- 2.5GHz compared to 2.3GHz Intel Core i5.

If you want to trade the old, slow mechanical 320GB hard drive for a faster solid state drive you can, with this model. It'll cost $460 more, and your storage will halve from 320GB to 160GB -- but you'll be enjoying the lightning speed that an SSD can provide. It also can't be used with a docking station, which means you'll need to plug in all your cords each time you get back to your desk. However, unlike the basic model, it does come with Bluetooth built in, so you'll be able to use it with a wireless keyboard and mouse.
It has a high-definition webcam as well, so Skype video chats will be no problem.

The $2,889 top model

This is the model most business travellers will probably want to buy. It includes the Intel Core i7 2.7GHz powerplant in it, which is the fastest dual-core chip Intel offers.

Another sweet feature is basic in-built 3G mobile broadband -- so you can just slip a SIM card in wherever you're travelling to and avoid paying hotel internet rates. For an extra $125, you can even upgrade to a better 3G module inside the laptop that will support Telstra's 21Mbit/s Next G download speeds.
It comes with a docking station in the box at no additional cost (see below for more details).
However, oddly for a top-shelf model, it doesn't have an option to swap the 320GB hard drive for a faster solid state disk flash-memory based model. Docking options

Lenovo sells a $218.90 docking station for the Thinkpad X220, called the "ThinkPad Series 3 UltraBase". As mentioned above, it comes standard with the top-of-the-line X220 at no extra cost.(ICOM IC-V8 battery)
The UltraBase has a bay for an optical drive or second hard drive -- ideal if you've gone for the 160GB solid state drive option and want more storage when you're back at your desk.
It has a VGA monitor port for connection to older style monitors or projectors, as well as a DisplayPort -- the newest type of digital connector that practically no monitors use yet, so you'll probably need to buy a DisplayPort to DVI or HDMI adaptor, too.(Kodak Easyshare v1003 Battery )
The dock also provides Gigabit Ethernet for connecting to corporate networks, four USB 2.0 ports, and power and audio pass-through.

Market demand for lithium-polymer ICOM IC-V8 battery, which are used mainly in products such as tablet PCs or notebooks with ultra-thin designs, is expected to increase significantly as ultra-thin designs are estimated by Intel to be adopted into 40% of consumer notebooks at the end of 2012.

However, since Apple already booked up most of the available lithium-polymer battery capacity in the IT market, players such as Hewlett-Packard (HP) and Acer are currently searching aggressively for new supply sources, according to sources from SAMSUNG i85 battery players.

Due to the supply shortage, prices for lithium-polymer batteries are increasing fiercely with the price in the second quarter already growing over 20% sequentially, but since most downstream PC vendors are focusing on securing supply sources as a priority without caring much about price, battery cell makers in Japan, Korea and China are aggressively expanding their capacity, the sources noted.

The sources pointed out that lithium-polymer Acer Aspire 5735Z Series Battery only have an average of 10% market penetration, but with demand rising rapidly in 2010, the top-two battery makers in Taiwan, Simplo Technology and Dynapack International Technology, already have 20-30% of their shipments being lithium-polymer Fujifilm Finepix f401 Battery in 2011.

Due to lithium-polymer battery's strong flexibility that allows notebooks to feature even lighter and slimmer designs, strong demand from notebook players including HP, Acer, Dell and Asustek Computer, which are aggressively launching ultra-thin notebooks, is expected to increase the battery's penetration quickly.

Better Batteries Will Save the World

In the early 1970s, the research arm of Exxon hired a promising young engineer named Michael Stanley Whittingham and asked him to invent something—anything—that could reduce the company's dependence on crude oil. Whittingham and a team holed up at an Exxon R & D lab in New Jersey, and, as engineers are wont to do, started mixing together chemicals to see what would happen. When they injected potassium into the rare metal tantalum, they noticed something extraordinary—the resulting mixture had an extremely high capacity to store energy.
Over the next few months they continued tinkering with various metals. Whittingham's team replaced tantalum with titanium, and because potassium was hazardous to work with, they switched it for lithium. When they were done, Whittingham raced to Exxon's headquarters to report to the board that they'd created something amazing. It was the first lithium-based dell inspiron 1545 battery that worked at room temperature, and it had the potential to upend the entire energy business.
Of course, that didn't happen. Soon came a recession, an oil glut, and the election of Ronald Reagan, which ended a great deal of government funding for research into advanced energy projects. This is how it goes in the battery business. As Seth Fletcher, a senior editor at Popular Science, recounts in his engaging new book Bottled Lightning: Superbatteries, Electric Cars, and the New Lithium Economy, scientists have been trying to build a better HP pavilion dv6000 battery since before the days of Thomas Edison (who was a major battery tinkerer himself). (Disclosure: Fletcher and I share the same literary agent.) If we had HP pavilion zd8000 battery that matched the price and performance of fossil fuels, we would not only have cleaner cars, but we might be able to remake much of the rest of the nation's energy infrastructure, too. Stores of batteries placed in the electric grid could collect energy when the sun shines or when the wind blows and then discharge it when we need it. As Fletcher explains, physics, politics, and the price of gasoline have always conspired against the improvement of battery technology. Fletcher's book is hopeful—he investigates a number of promising technologies that might theoretically challenge the dominance of fossil fuels. But many of them are a long way from fruition, and the history of failure in the battery industry doesn't inspire confidence. The fundamental problem with ibm thinkpad r40 battery is the existence of gasoline. Oil is cheap, abundant, and relatively easy to transport. Most importantly, it has a high "energy density"—meaning that it's phenomenally good at storing energy for its weight. The only reason electric cars might one day compete with cars that rely on internal combustion is that gasoline engines are highly inefficient; nearly all of the energy stored in gasoline is lost to heat. But gasoline makes up for that flaw with another advantage: When your car's out of gas, you can refill it in a few minutes. There's some hope that we might one day install fast-charging stations across the country, but the researchers Fletcher interviews point out that this is a daunting challenge. The battery in today's Tesla roadster needs about four hours to charge. "Your house takes 1 kilowatt," one expert tells Fletcher. Neither do I. So what's the answer? Fletcher's book ends with a look at the most far-out research in the Sony vgp-bps8 battery world—the lithium-air battery. In this design, lithium and carbon combine with oxygen from the air to form a system with a staggering potential to store energy. In theory, the lithium-air battery could store 11,000 watt-hours per kilogram, which makes it, Fletcher says, "the best chance battery scientists have to beat gasoline." You could drive pretty much wherever you wanted all day, and then recharge your car at night.

But lithium-air is the cold fusion of the battery world—a would-be game-changer that has the unfortunate downside of being impossible to achieve (probably). Researchers have been working at lithium-air for decades, but there are a number of challenges to overcome before such a HP pavilion dv6000 battery might be commercially viable. For one thing, the system uses lithium metal, which is highly, explosively reactive with water. (In a lithium-ion Dell studio 1735 battery , lithium is combined with another element in the cathode, and it is also present as a salt that's dissolved in a solution.)*Water, of course, is present in the air, so the very idea of a battery that mixes lithium metal with air has always seemed little more than a fantasy. Fletcher reports that the fantasy has become slightly more real lately. A company called PolyPlus has developed a way to coat lithium metal to protect it from moisture, and IBM has launched a research project aimed at building a lithium-air Acer aspire 5720g battery.

But with every advance, there's another hurdle. PolyPlus's innovation makes the lithium metal in a lithium-air battery easy to recharge, but nobody knows, yet, how to recharge such a Sony vgp-bps3 battery. Figuring that out seems destined to take many more years. The chief technology officer of PolyPlus tells Fletcher that it will be "a long time before you see battery packs that are large enough and proven and tested enough that you would start thinking about transportation."
That's the paradox of battery research. Advanced batteries could well solve many of the problems that dog us today. But they'll only come about many, many years from now—and by then, it could be too late.

Hai Yu sentenced to 5 years prison for sexual battery

Hai “Howie” Yu was sentenced to five years in prison and one year of probation after pleading guilty to sexual battery (camera battery, laptop battery) and criminal confinement. He will spend 10 years on the sexual offenders registry after his release from prison.

In May 2010, Yu was captured on video dragging a mostly naked, highly intoxicated woman into and out of the laundry room at Foster Magee.

When asked by witnesses if the victim needed help, Yu claimed that she was okay and that she was a friend of his. The two had met at a party that night.

Yu could be seen on video surveillance dragging the victim’s unconscious body into the laundry room.

He later dragged her out and left her on the ground outside, mostly naked. Black lace underwear belonging to the victim were found nearby.

The victim suffered numerous injuries, including bite marks on her back, thumbprints on her shoulders and thighs and bruises on her genitalia. She was treated for hypothermia at the hospital.

“I have been in this business a long time, but I have rarely seen things this shocking,” Monroe County Circuit Judge Teresa Harper said.

During the first hearing, IU Police Department Sgt. Leslie Slone gave a minute-by-minute run-down of the video surveillance as the judge watched it on the prosecution’s laptop.

While Sgt. Slone was showing the video footage to Judge Harper, Harper at one point gasped at the images being depicted on the tape.

This was when Sgt. Slone indicated that the victim was being dragged outside mostly naked. Only the judge, the prosecuting attorneys, the defense attorney and Sgt. Slone could see the video.

During the first of two sentencing hearings, Yu and his mother both offered direct apologies to the victim. Howie Yu, while looking directly at the victim, said, “I hope you can get over this and move on and live your life to the fullest. I sincerely apologize. I can’t believe you’re going through this because of me.”

The victim explained during the first hearing that the incident had changed her relationship with her friends and negatively impacted her relationship with her parents.
“Honestly, they think it’s my fault because I drank. The fact that I had drank should never give someone the power to make a decision for me,” she said as she fought back tears. Her parents did not attend
the hearing.

After the sentence was announced, Yu’s attorney, Joseph Lozano, said it would be disingenuous to complain that the ruling was unfair, especially considering Yu faced the possibility of 40 years at one point during the trial. He also said he wasn’t sure about an appeal right now but said “Judge Harper obviously very carefully considered
her decision.”

Monroe County deputy prosecutor Rebecca Veidlinger said the prosecution was satisfied with the outcome, which was almost exactly in line with what the victim and state requested.

“By getting a guilty plea, we can hold the perpetrator accountable for these actions,” Veidinger said. “It shows that, as a community, we will not accept this behavior and it’s worthwhile for victims to report these cases. The outcome can have a
big benefit.”

I still remember my very first camera phone.

It was a Sagem something or other (that wasn’t its actual name) and it boasted a state of the art 2MP snapper.(APPLE MacBook 13-inch A1278 Battery)

I’m kidding of course, the camera on that phone was never ‘state of the art’ but the novelty at the time was unreal.

Fast forward 7 years (where the hell did all that time go) and we’re all being spoilt rotten by the HD snappers built into our touchscreen handsets.(Hp Pavilion dm3 Battery)

In fact, some camera phones are so good, you’d be forgiven for thinking they’re more like phone cameras, as making calls seems almost secondary to the stunning images you’re able to capture.

But which phones currently have the best cameras?

These are the current heavyweights as I see it.

Nokia N8

If you’re after sheer pixel-power, then the 12MP camera wedged into the Nokia N8 should be right up your street.(Canon mv200 Battery)

Suffice to say, pictures are crisp, vivid and jam-packed with detail. And low light won’t slow you down either thanks to the superb Xenon flash that Nokia have kindly supplied you with.

Fringe benefits (i.e. anything other than the awesome camera) include a brilliant Canon Bp-911 Battery, an excellent screen for enjoying your snaps and a premium aluminium shell.

The N8 is a quality handset in nearly every respect, save for the frustrating user interface and below par web experience.

But if you can put up with those things, the camera more than compensates. It’s a beauty.

Sony Ericsson Satio

When the Satio came out last year, the camera was so good that instead of comparing it to other phones, most people chose to compare it to their digital camera.(DOPOD 818 Pro PDA battery)

Hardly seems fair does it?

Still, the picture quality you get with it’s 12.1MP snapper truly is something to marvel at. You’re also offered a huge range of options from touch focussing to a useful LED flash.

Overall, it’s a solid device that feels good in the hand and provides a strong music and video offering alongside the obvious selling point of the HD camera.

The SAMSUNG SCD81 Battery life isn’t particularly good though and the operating system is poor, particularly when coupled with an unresponsive touchscreen.

Samsung Pixon 12

The Pixon 12, like the other two devices is packing a 12MP camera (as you might have deduced from its name).(Hp Compaq Business Notebook 6715b Battery)

Where this particular phone sprints clear of the opposition is in the wealth of settings you’re treated to, including the superb Smart Auto feature.

This basically configures the phone to automatically use the appropriate settings for the picture you want to take, ensuring you get the best result every time.(Sony Cybershot Dsc-t1 Battery)

That’s a great feature for amateur photographers or people who just can’t be bothered to tinker with the settings for every single shot.

So yes, the camera is superb.

Sadly though, much like the Satio, the ORANGE SPV C500 PDA battery life on the Pixon 12 is an issue and it’s not a particularly easy phone to operate. In fact, it’s maddening at times.

The Result

3rd place – The Pixon 12, despite boasting a camera that’s pushes the other two phones all the way and the awesome Smart Auto, loses out due to an atrocious Acer Aspire 4810tzg-414g50mn Battery and a clumsy OS.

2nd place – There’s a lot to admire about the Satio, not least it’s stunning camera, which produces photos of the very highest quality, but the touchscreen is infuriating at times, so when you’re not using the camera, you might wonder why you ever bought the phone.

1st place – It really had to be the Nokia N8. Why? Well, it’s quite simple really. All three devices have awesome cameras (although I’d argue the flash on the N8 gives it the edge) but Nokia’s phone is far superior in almost every other respect, from the impressive Sony Np-fc11 Battery to the premium build quality, it’s the clear overall winner.

Ricoh has today unveiled the PX, the first in a new series of digital compact cameras designed to be both water and shock resistant.

Ricoh claims that the 16-million-pixel PX can be used at an underwater depth of 3m, for up to one hour, and withstand drops from a height of 1.5m.

Powered by a rechargeable camera battery, the PX sports a 5x optical lens designed to deliver the 35mm viewing angle equivalent of a 28-140mm zoom.

A digital zoom expands zoom power to an equivalent focal length of 1,344mm, adds Ricoh.

Features also include a 2.7in display, subject tracking AF, a Smooth Imaging Engine IV processor and an HD (1280x720 pixels) video function.(Canon NB-5L battery)

Minaturize, Toy Camera and Soft Focus are among the PX's digital filter effect options.
